Art
We're looking for black and white artwork (including but not limited to, standard photography, digital photography, painting, pen and ink, charcoal, pencil, multimedia, and digital arts).You may submit up to five images (though be aware you'll need to submit each separately). Do include a bio, and please let us know if the image is also available in color (in case we'd like to use it as a cover).
The following file types are supported: (jpg, gif, tiff, png). Submit files of images at least 5x8 inches at 300 dpi. We will not be able to consider files any smaller.
Fiction
Size limit: 7,500 words
Fiction submissions should be limited to a single story of up to 7,500 words. Please include the title of the story on all pages. All submissions should be accompanied by a cover letter.Poetry
Size limit: 5 poems
Poetry submissions should include 3-5 poems combined into a single document. All submissions should be accompanied by a cover letter.Nonfiction
Size limit: 7,500 words
Nonfiction submissions should be limited to a single piece of no more than 7,500 words. Nonfiction, for us, includes creative nonfiction as well as reviews and interviews. All submissions should be accompanied by a cover letter.Drama
Size limit: 1 Act
Drama submissions should be limited to one-acts only, appropriately formatted.Queries: Reviews, Interviews, Etc.
Yemassee is always seeking well-written reviews of well-written books. The review should engage a new book by way of content as well as style and poetics. If you're interested in reviewing a book, please send us a query detailing the book you mean to review and the angle you mean to take. Please indicate if you'd be interested in acceptance of your review for online publication.Occasionally, we do publish interviews with well-known writers. The majority of our interviews are conducted by our editorial staff; however, if you have something you think might interest us, feel free to send us a query.
